About Us
The Shire of Ivory Keep is the local chapter of the Society for Creative Anachronism (S.C.A.), a non-profit educational organization dedicated to re-enacting life in the middle-ages. We re-enact many of the better aspects of the middle-ages such as: Armored Combat, Medieval Dancing, Archery, Heraldry, Singing, Story Telling, many types of Handcrafts, and much more! We are a family oriented organization that strives to uphold the concepts of Chivalry and Honor, as well as teach and learn about life in the middle-ages. Our membership is open to all those interested in life in the middle-ages.
Our Shire is mundanely located in Hannibal, Missouri and is also part of a region known as the Kingdom of Calontir which covers roughly the area of Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, and part of Arkansas. There are many groups located in our Kingdom and there are many Kingdoms located throughout the world. The Society for Creative Anachronism was founded in 1967 in Berkley, California and has slowly grown and become an international organization. You may learn more about the S.C.A. by following the link to the S.C.A.'s official homepage located on our "Links" page. Our Shire has been in existence since 1989.
Our Shire is available for demonstrations at local schools, churches, and other social organizations interested in learning more about the middle-ages. We are happy to provide our demonstrations free of charge (however, we do accept donations), but scheduling may be limited due to the fact that all our members are volunteers and have regular jobs, etc. If interested, please see our "Officers" page for contact information.
